Our oil heat labor call rates are very reasonable for both residential and commercial service calls, but we do charge a two hour minimum. There are times though when needed, and if it falls within the two hour service period, we will throw in a precision oil tune-up free of charge so that our repair lasts a long time. There are also many times that a malfunctioning oil heat appliance service call turns out to be just a needed tune-up that has to be properly executed, and so this is what we will do as a repair. Along with a precision tune-up we will assess the current mechanical state of your oil furnace or boiler to give you added peace of mind or to help you decide on what repairs or precautions to take to further extend your heating equipment's longevity.

Our precision oil burner tune-ups normally consist of replacing the oil filter and the pump screen filter if the burner unit is equipped with one. We check the flame sensor if it requires replacement and we also check many other aspects of the oil burner such as play between the oil pump and the burner motor. We also always replace the oil spray nozzle and clean and check or adjust the electrodes for proper gap when needed. As part of the precision tune-up procedure, we also bleed the oil fuel line of air, this along with providing you an assessment of the heating unit.

Oil furnace and boiler repairs may consist of the following: mechanical or electronic thermostat, electrical switch, boiler or furnace open wiring or shorting out, and or fuse/breaker problems.

Problems aside from clogged fuel oil screens or filters, oil boiler and oil furnace malfunctions may also consist of fuel problems such as the fuel oil not flowing properly due to a defective or weak oil pump, clogging inside the oil tank and anywhere in on the oil fuel line. A blower motor that helps the boiler or furnace pump oil plus provide air flow to forced air systems with air conditioning will render an oil heat system inoperative if it fails. Proper motor function is essential to oil heating whether it is for a boiler or furnace. Boilers with a hot water system to distribute heat will also require a fully functioning circulator pump(s), aquastat, and individual thermostats if using multiple zone valves. In oil steam boilers, rust in the system is a predominant cause of failures to the piping, radiators, air vents, safety valves, and of the boiler itself. This can be prevented though by installing a rust neutralizing agent. We do this type of service plus clean the dirty sight glass if you have an oil fired steam boiler in order to help minimize rust induced problems.

When we perform our precision oil heat tune-up we also lubricate where needed such as with certain types of circulator pumps, air handler blower motor, and the oil pump/blower motor for the burner.

A clean heat exchanger is a must to increase efficiency as this helps absorption of the heat as it is being produced by the oil burner. We also provide this type of service as well as cleaning the base of chimney and then adjusting for the proper fuel to air mixture ratio.

 A clean unrestricted chimney is essential for the safe and proper exhaustion of combustion gases. A dirty heat exchanger in an oil furnace or boiler along with a restricted chimney will produce soot, lower an oil boiler or furnace efficiency, plus cause unhealthy and dangerous conditions such as with carbon monoxide poisoning.

Other issues that could also go wrong with oil heating in residential homes and places of worship, businesses, organizations, and other commercial settings, can occur with the electronic ignition and transformers, limit controls such as with low water cut-off(s), pressure limit switches(s), aquastats, oil burner controller, forced air temperature control, water pump controls, and its associated thermostats.
